Morozumi was born in Nagano Prefecture and with Kawachi Seiko was the first of the generation born after the Pacific War to come to prominence in the woodblock medium. He originally studied sculpture at Tama Art University, but before graduating in 1972 he had won the newcomer's prize at the Japanese Print Association and the main prize at the Nichido Print Grand Prix Exhibition (both 1972). He was guided by Fukita Fumiaki, Professor of Printmaking at Tama. He began to exhibit at foreign exhibitions in 1975. His work since the early 1970s has been restricted mainly to monochrome prints produced by his own unique technique of punching numerous indentations into the block with nails of various sizes. The light and shade effects thus achieved are perfectly suited to his forms, which are basically sculptural with a strong sense of mystery. The prints are numbered serially and have no titles.

He did not only travel to Switzerland but also went to Italy and Nepal where he made brilliant prints of the landscape and people. A reel on Nepal will be uploaded today, i’ll so you a review of the Nepal prints:
